Background
Microplastics have a negative impact on lake ecosystems and their biodiversity. For this reason, Global Nature Fund and Lake Constance Foundation, in cooperation with the Chiemsee Nature Guides and five Italian partner organisations, have launched the EU-LIFE project “Blue Lakes”. In addition to an information campaign for consumers and the development of efficient filter technologies in wastewater treatment plants as well as a standard protocol for sampling and analysing microplastic residues, dialogue with companies is part of the project.
